AFR Life Privacy Policy and terms of use
We value you as a customer and take your personal privacy seriously. We will inform you of our policies for collecting, using, securing, and sharing non-public personal information ("customer information") the first time we do business and every year that you are an AFR customer.
Our Privacy Policy
- We do not sell customer information.
- We do not allow those who are doing business on our behalf to use our customer information for their own marketing purposes.
- We require any person or organization providing products or services to customers on our behalf to protect the confidentiality of AFR customer information.
- We afford prospective and former customers the same protections as existing customers with respect to the use of personal information.
- We only share your customer information with non-affiliated third parties if the third party services are necessary for us to provide you with the insurance products and services you are requesting. For example, we may share your information with auditors required by state or federal laws, with actuary services for the purposes of identifying risks and setting prices, or such other reasons required or allowed by law.
Information we may collect
We collect and use information we believe is necessary to administer our business, to advise you about our products and services, and to provide you with products and customer service. To make our services available to you, we may collect and maintain several types of customer information, and we obtain that information in several ways, such as those ways described below:
-
From you, in applications for our insurance products or on other forms, through telephone conversations or in-person discussions with your AFR agent. The information we collect from you may include things such as your social security number, address and telephone numbers, family members, and dates of birth, electronic mail address, and other similar information.
- From your transactions with us, such as your payment history, underwriting and claim documents.
- From non-AFR companies, such as your driving record, medical history and insurance claim history.
- From consumer reporting agencies, such as your credit history.
How We Use Information About You
We use customer information to underwrite your policies, process your claims, ensure proper billings, and serving of your accounts, to protect us and you from fraud and unauthorized transactions, and for regulatory compliance.
Information Disclosure
We share information about our transactions and experiences with you within the AFR affiliated companies and with AFR agents to assist in meeting your product and service needs. We may also disclose customer information about you to persons or organizations outside our affiliated companies which perform necessary services connected with the administration of our business, or as otherwise permitted or required by law, for auditing and financial regulatory compliance.
We share customer information as necessary to handle your claim and to protect you against fraud and unauthorized transactions. For example, we might share customer information such as name, address, and coverage information with an auto body shop to facilitate repairs on an auto damage claim.
We may share information within AFR affiliated companies obtained from your application, such as your occupation or information obtained from a consumer report, such as your credit history. We may also verify information provided by you, such as your driving record or information regarding your employment, such as your employment history.
We may share your information, including your name, address, electronic mail address, and other personal identifiers with the AFR Cooperative, a separate Section 501(c)(5) farm-service non-profit company who provides educational, legislative, youth programs, and similar services to AFR members. In order to obtain insurance products from American Farmers & Ranchers Mutual Insurance Company, you must be a member of the AFR Cooperative.
